Elon Musk announced last Friday on X that the social media platform has transferred all of its information to the URL X.com. “All core systems are now on X.com,” said the platform’s CEO. This update comes as part of the last phase of the rebranding process of what was Twitter, which began in 2023 .
According to France 24 , this means that URLs from Twitter will automatically redirect to an X.com address, and all services and systems have been integrated into the new domain as the centralized link.
Even though the logo, name, and certain pages changed months ago, Twitter’s main URL prevailed. According to The Verge , “www.twitter.com” existed until the day the transition was announced, and users got a message informing them about the redirection. “We are letting you know that we are changing our URL, but your privacy and data protection settings remain the same.” However, some browsers took a few hours to update the page name from Twitter to X.
The process began last year, and a few issues appeared along the way, including phishing attacks. And not all users have been pleased with this transition.
After Musk informed on X about the change, many users replied with messages such as “We are still gonna call it Twitter” and “But majority people still call it Twitter and tweet.”
Despite the audience’s reluctance to the changes, Elon Musk continues to pursue his dream of naming one of his companies “X.” He’s had this idea since 1999 when he created the online financial transaction site “X.com”, which eventually merged with PayPal.
Musk’s recent changes to monetize X have also ended major network integrations. For example, Nintendo recently announced the end of X integration for its Switch devices.

Reddit and OpenAI announced a new partnership on May 16th. With this alliance, OpenAI will bring Reddit content—including real-time information— to ChatGPT, and Reddit will implement AI-powered features for users and moderators. Both companies will also become advertising partners.
The official announcement was originally shared on Reddit’s website. “Reddit has become one of the internet’s largest open archives of authentic, relevant, and always up-to-date human conversations about anything and everything,” said Steve Huffman, Reddit Co-Founder and CEO, in the release. “Including it in ChatGPT upholds our belief in a connected internet, helps people find more of what they’re looking for, and helps new audiences find community on Reddit.”
Both companies have emphasized the relevance of human expressions on Reddit and their efforts to keep the internet open. OpenAI will get access to Reddit’s API and will be able to scroll all data, including recent topics.
OpenAI has shared the announcement with a note on their website, clarifying that Sam Altman, OpenAI’s CEO, is a shareholder in Reddit and the partnership was led by OpenAI. According to Reuters , Reddit’s shares rose 13% the day after the announcement.
Earlier this year, in February, Google signed a similar deal with Reddit to train Gemini with the platform’s content. Now, both companies are competing to get the best and most human-like AI assistant with recent announcements of new AI models GPT-4o and Project Astra , and are officially using equal sources to feed their generative artificial intelligence products.
Reaction And Concern
X CEO Elon Musk wrote that Grok, Musk’s generative artificial intelligence chatbot, will partner with the controversial 4Chan community, evidently mocking OpenAI’s announcement and new partnership with Reddit.
While many do celebrate the announcement, multiple users were concerned about the false information and biased content on Reddit. “Misinformation and bias galore. I just hope ChatGPT won’t be trained on Reddit content. This is a disaster waiting to happen,” said one user .
Other users believe OpenAI already trained its AI products with Reddit and assured that this was just a financial move and a way to stay on good terms with the company. “It’s so obvious that ChatGPT was trained on Reddit. This is OpenAI making peace for the future,” wrote another.
