Google announced yesterday new updates for Google TV including new features to control smart devices at home, personalized displays, a new sports page, and AI-powered features with Gemini to get more information on TV shows and movies. Users will also be able to use Google Assistant to find and control devices though voice commands.
New features to personalize the screen and platform are also available. Users can use the Ambient screensaver and add photos from Google Photos to create different types of personal screensavers with the help of AI.
In the For You tab users will find a new sports page featuring the most relevant games and sports content options including YouTube highlights, upcoming games, sports commentary, and live games.
For those who have a hard time deciding what to watch next, Google has launched a new feature with the help of Gemini to provide relevant information on TV shows and movies—like reviews, breakdowns, and summaries—through overviews.
Google TV Freeplay now includes 150 channels and users can navigate the TV guide by gender and topic to access the free channels.
Google also recently announced new features for YouTube including a platform redesign for TV users during the annual event Made on YouTube in New York.

In a Rush? Here are the Quick Facts!
- Duolingo launches two new AI features: AI Calls and Adventures
- The new e-piano is available for pre-order at $249
- More details will be provided during the Duocon 2024
The language learning platform Duolingo announced today through a press release two new AI features and launched a new e-piano device. The new AI-powered features, Adventures, and Video Call, will allow users to enhance their learning journeys with gamification and more personalized experiences.
“Our mission is to develop the best education in the world and make it universally available. We believe the best way to do that is by continuously pushing the boundaries of technology,” said Luis von Ahn, co-founder and CEO of Duolingo. “With new AI-powered features like Video Call and Adventures, we’re creating new, immersive ways to practice languages and build confidence. These innovations are just the beginning of how we’re leveraging technology to serve our global community of learners better.”
Adventures will feature Duolingo characters Lily and Oscar going through learning adventures in a new world with storylines and dynamic settings in realistic scenarios where users will have to use their language skills to ask for coffee or get their passports checked. This feature will be available for iOS and Android Devices.
Members of the Duolingo Max subscription learning French, Spanish, or English will be able to improve their learning skills through the new AI feature Video Call, available for all levels. Video Call helps learners face real-world situations by talking to Lily on the phone.
Duolingo has also partnered with the music instrument manufacturer Loog, and Sony Music to create a portable piano to help users learn to play their favorite songs through the Duolingo Music course. The new e-piano costs $249 and will be available for sale through Duolingo’s website soon—preorders are already available.
More details of the new services and products will be provided later today during the Duocon 2024, duolingo’s annual virtual conference.
